Colombian minister confident of U.S. tariff preferences
Colombian Trade Minister Sergio Díaz-Granados has told RCN Radio that U.S. Congress could extend tariff preferences to the country in mid-March.
He called for patience from exporters, who would likely be hit hard if the suspension of the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA) continued.

"We hope for the extension by the middle of the month (March) and that it will be retroactive to largely compensate Colombian exporters for the additional cost entailed in these weeks with tariffs," he was quoted as saying.
Díaz-Granados told the radio he was confident the tariff preference extension would last several months and that a free trade agreement (FTA) would be ratified later this year.
