Peruvian horticultural exporter Camposol has notched a 43.85% year-on-year rise in exports during the first three months of 2011, with a total alue of US$32.08 million, website Andina.com.pe reported.

Camposol is a diversified Peruvian business that exports asparagus, avocadoes, mangoes, Piquillo peppers, table grapes, oranges, mandarins and shrimp.

The Peruvian Society of Foreign Trade (ComexPerĆŗ) reported Camposol was followed by packaged and processed foods company Alicorp with US$25.3 million, while artichoke, asparagus and pepper exporter Sociedad AgrĆ­cola VirĆŗ came in third place with revenue of US$21.06 million for the quarter, the story reported.

ComexPerĆŗ reported these businesses combined with CorporaciĆ³n Danper, Complejo Agroindustrial Beta, El Pedregal, Sunshine Export, Gloria, Agroindustrial Casa Grande and Gandules recorded a total of US$695.17 million in exports during the quarter.

The news comes amid reports from Andina that Chilean and Colombian investors have ramped up acquisitions of Peruvian agricultural land recently due to the country's high productivity and profitability, drawn primarily to the production of asparagus, grapes and avocadoes.
