ProChile looks to boost food exports to Russia, Turkey

ProChile's 'Flavors of Chile' marketing tour of Russia and Turkey is set to finish tomorrow, as part of the 'Flavors of Chile' campaign to promote trade with the two countries.

In a release, ProChile said 21 Chilean companies were expected to meet with important local businesses in seminars, workshops and meetings, along with dinners made with Chilean produce in Moscow and Istanbul.

"Activities like Flavours of Chile allow us to show the best of our export offering and ensure the public recognizes that they can consumer a variety of the products on a daily basis," said ProChile international director Carlos Honorato.

With an annual value of US$309 million Chile's food exports only represent a small portion of Turkey's market, but the South American country has positioned itself as the main supplier of fresh grapes with 56.33% of the market.

In terms of Russia, Chile is the largest supplier of frozen trout, dried plums and jams, with a representation of 68%, 38.4% and 18.37% respectively.
