Kenyan fruit farmers benefit from Coca Cola factory

Kenyan farmers in the Rift Valley and Central regions have been able to avoid wastage losses by delivering fruit to a Coca Cola juice factory, website Nation.co.ke reported.

Coca Cola's manager for still beverages in Central and East Africa Lionel Marumahoko, told the website farmers earned KES150 million (US$1.65 million) from the project last year.

"This change will deliver significant cost efficiencies as well as enhance our responsiveness to ever changing consumer taste needs," Marumahoko was quoted as saying.

He said the company planned to make the Beverage Service Kenya manufacturing plant a 'key production unit' for Minute Maid juices.
