Strikes in Portuguese ports will continue for the rest of September with workers rallying against government austerity measures, website Portstrategy.com reported.

The government has indicated plans to cut port workers’ wages by 7% and has cut two additional salary payments per year, the story reported.

Stevedores were striking yesterday, while Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) administration workers announced they would go on a 24-hour strike during Sep. 21-22, and do so again on Sep. 24-25.

ISS harbor pilots had plans to strike again from Sep. 25-27.
