The Argentinean Blueberry Committee (ABC) expects cold temperatures as a result of El Niño will likely impact blueberry volumes in the coming weeks.

While shipments to week 41 were as expected at 2,352 metric tons (MT), rain in the province of Concordia will mean fewer harvesting days in the region and therefore its total export volume will drop.

However, the ABC believes this could be favorable for the harvest as peaks in Concordia and Tucumán will not coincide.

The entity expected the industry would ship 15,000MT during the 2012-13 season, but due to current circumstances it has forecast a decline that is yet to be defined.

During week 41, Argentina shipped 726MT to the U.S., 188MT to continental Europe and 149MT to the U.K.
