Peruvian mango harvest strike lifted

Mango growers in Peru's San Lorenzo Valley have agreed to stop their harvest strike after reaching an assistance package agreement with the regional government, website Lahora.pe reported.Ā mangoes_ffp-300x300

Growers had previously halted fruit sales due to the threat of low prices that would make business unviable.

The regional government has offered to pay for nine months of professional services for the Regional Mango Council (COREMANGO), with the agreement stipulating that growers take on the cost after this period.

The deal also includes the creation of a Grower and Exporter Registry, aimed at differentiating serious solvent businesses from those that try to take advantage of producers.
