U.S.: Port of Savannah to receive new fruit imports next month

The Port of Savannah in the state of Georgia will be able to receive new cold-treated commodities starting Sept. 1, according to a briefing published by Crowley Company subsidiary Customized Brokers. clementines_67148710 small

The authorization means that Peruvian mandarins, tangelos, clementines, tangerines, grapefruit and sour limes will be permitted entry with cold treatment.

Brazilian grapes are also included.

Peruvian grapes and blueberries are also mentioned on the authorized list, but Customized Brokers emphasized this did not affect existing preclearance programs for these fruits.

"Containers that do not pass cold treatment will be prohibited from entering the port and will not be offloaded from vessels," the briefing said.

"Failed containers will be allowed transit via sea to a Northeastern port for retreatment, or they will be re-exported to the country of origin."
