Russia may add Ukraine to list of banned countries

Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has said it believes the Ukraine may be re-exporting agricultural products from banned EU countries. tomates_69588757 small

The organization said import volumes from the country for crops such as apples, tomatoes, cucumbers, pears and plums were far higher than last year.

In addition, Rosselkhoznadzor claimed many of the shipments did not have markings on them signifying where the products originated from.

The Russian authorities have approached their Ukrainian counterparts to demand this year's production figures for the crops in question, as well as assurances that it is not shipping products from banned EU nations.

Rosselkhoznadzor added if it is not satisfied with the explanation, it reserved the right to impose import restrictions on Ukraine too.
