The high jumper has joined forces with the fruit supplier as brand ambassador to promote healthy eating habits amongst British schoolchildren and sports lovers all over the U.K.

According to a release, Edwards originally approached BanaBay to provide bananas as an essential part of his fitness and training diet which he promotes as a 'Sportivator' for the Sports for Schools program inspiring U.K. youngsters to get into athletics.

He is currently studying at the University of Louisville in the U.S. where he is training to improve his personal best jump of 2.22 meters to get ahead in the U.K. rankings and is also competing in the World University Games in Korea next year.

"The link with BanaBay will help me explain to kids in a very visual way that taking part in sport is a real commitment and part of that is down to eating the right, healthy, energy-packed foodsā€, he said in the release.

"Personally I need bananas to power me through my training schedule and keep on improving my athletic performance.

"BanaBay is a British-based brand and their bananas taste great too, so for me it's a perfect partnership."

BanaBayā€™s managing director Mark Oā€™Sullivan says that he is proud to be associated with the athlete who is a powerful role model for healthy eating.
