U.S.: WP Rawl to almost double leafy greens processing capacity

South Carolina-based produce company WP Rawl has announced a complete upgrade of its leafy greens production lines, which it says will almost double processing capabilities. shutterstock_59543686 leafy greens panorama

In a release, WP Rawl said the new lines at its Pelion headquarters - due for completion in the next few months - were the most up-to-date in the fresh-cut industry, designed for optimum production while ensuring the maximum in food safety and quality.

"Although the fresh industry allows for a single wash process, WP Rawl demanded two," the company said.

"The two-step wash process and fresh water rinse prior to drying and packaging ensure that only the nutrients, flavor and the color Mother Nature intended are being placed in packages without compromise.

"All of this thorough washing and processing is delivered gently without damage to the leaf structure, ensuring the freshest product on the market with the highest consideration to food safety."

WP Rawl director of plant operations Jim Zurbey said everything the company did was with the consumer in mind.

"Our overall efficiency and product quality will benefit from this state-of-the art revamp, which ultimately benefits our customers and the end consumer."
