British schoolchildren are soon to receive 'space seeds' that have been on-board the International Space Station (ISS) with astronaut Tim Peake.

The salad rocket seeds, donated by Tozer Seeds, were sent into space as part of a mass experiment dubbed 'Rocket Science', run by the U.K. Space Agency and the Royal Horticultural Society.

After being in space with Peak for six months, the seeds have now traveled back to earth with former commander of the space station astronaut Scott Kelly and are being distributed to thousands of school kids.

The rocket seeds have been sorted and packed especially for schools, childrenā€™s clubs and societies across Britain that have signed up to the novel experiment after Peake made an announcement from space earlier this year calling on children to get involved in the 'voyage of discovery' project.

The idea is to learn more about the possible effects that radiation and weightlessness could have on the development of the seeds.

The 'space seeds' will be grown and compared against seeds that have remained on Earth.
