U.S.: Curry & Co enters partnership with Ensign family

Two multi-generational U.S. produce groups have come together with the Ensign family recently forming a partnership with Brooks, Oregon-based Curry & Company, a producer of blueberries, blackberries, onions and carrots.

In a release, Curry & Co said the partnership added key management personnel, a strategic plan and financial resources to continue to grow operations and its headquarters, along with growing partners and packer-shippers in Washington State, California, Georgia, Chile and Mexico.

"We are very honored to be part of Curry & Company. Both families are multi-generational and share the same passion and values for agriculture that make this alignment a perfect fit," said COO Aaron Ensign.

"Our partnership provides even greater stability for our growers, customers and employees, and we look forward to expanding our markets domestically and internationally."

The Ensign family farms over 1,000 acres of land in Oregon and Arizona. Holly Ensign, who will be Curry & Company’s CFO, brings financial and operational talent as well as hands on agricultural experience.

“Curry & Company was the exact opportunity we were looking for. We wanted a company with a diverse product background that had strong relationships and sales both domestically and internationally," Aaron Ensign said.

Curry & Co president Matt Curry said the partnership enabled his company to continue to pursue its goals.

"They bring a strong management team to the fold, and the financial resources for us to accomplish our strategic growth plans. I greatly respect Aaron and Holly and the passion and energy they have, I’m excited to be working with them," Curry said.

Curry & Co was founded in 1967 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. The company supplies blueberies for 52 weeks of the year, and is excited about the 2016 Oregon blueberry program which is set to start in June.

The company also has year-round supplies of sweet onions, onions, a seasonal Vidalia Sweet Carrot program and a seasonal West Coast blackberry program.
