China: Disney promotes Peruvian avocados in Shanghai

On June 17 Disney opened an amusement part in Shanghai, its first on the Chinese continent, and has been selling Peruvian avocados under its own brand.

The sale of Peruvian avocados to Disney is being carried out through the importer Shanghai NongFu Fruit Co. Ltd.

Speaking to www.freshfruitportal.com, Camposol commercial manager Armando Rojas said the program would help the company expand in the Chinese market, which opened last year for Peruvian avocado exporters.

"This is a promotional program to help the Chinese market get to know Peruvian avocados," he said.

Rojas said the origins of this initiative could be traced back to a trip made to China a few years ago by Campsol, during which time it evaluated the market, got to meet some potential importers, and analyzed different commercial programs for Peruvian avocados.

"The program with Disney represents an added value, not just for the fruit, but for Camposol too, looking toward the future for key commercial outlets for our products," he said.

Sales of Peruvian Hass avocados under the Disney brand will be available until August this year.

Fruit sold under the brand can be bought not only in the amusement park, but also in various supermarkets and on online platforms.

Currently, the main destinations for Peruvian Hass avocados are the Netherlands, the U.S. and Spain.
