U.S.: Sun World enlists two new Californian licensees

Sun Pacific and Jakov Dulcich & Sons are the latest companies to join Sun World's long global list of grape variety licensees.

While Sun World's partners extend as far as South Africa, the EU and Australia, the latest additions are in the company's own backyard of California.

In a release, Sun World said the deal was made to ensure sufficient quantities of its proprietary varieties were available to meet growing international demand.

Sun Pacific currently packs and ships more than 35 million cartons of fruit annually, as the country's largest kiwifruit grower, the biggest grower-shipper of clementines and Navel oranges, the second-largest tomato grower and a significant grower-supplier of table grapes.

The Dulcich family sell and ship grapes under the Pretty Lady brand by Sunlight International Sales.

"Our proprietary grapes are grown and distributed by some of the world's finest producers and marketers in most major grape growing regions around the world," said Sun World executive vice president David Marguleas.

"The addition of Sun Pacific and Jakov Dulcich, two longstanding and prominent California grower-shippers, along with our own expanding California production, ensures that consumers will enjoy even more distinctive proprietary seedless grapes throughout the year."

The company added Sunlight International and Sun Pacific had already started planting Sun World's most important grape varieties with initial commercial volumes expected to become available next year.
