Seeka Kiwifruit Industries (NZX: SEK) has purchased the product ranges Kiwi Crush and Kiwi Crushies from Vital Foods for an undisclosed sum. 

Kiwi Crush 100% natural kiwifruit-based drinks have been on the New Zealand market since the early 1990s to support and balance the digestive system, while Kiwi Crushies are a range of 100% natural fruit-based ice blocks that were launched in 2014.

In an announcement to the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX), Seeka CEO Michael Franks was pleased to announce that the purchase as his company has had a long association with Vital Foods both as a supplier of kiwifruit and as a shareholder.

Initially the products will continue to be manufactured by Vital on behalf of Seeka, but Seeka intends to establish a food technology and processing centre in the Bay Of Plenty focused on value adding for its existing products.

The center is expected to be operational for the next kiwifruit harvest season.
