Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 17 – 2013 (April 26)

Apples

In North America, the U.S. market slowed and prices went unchanged.

In Europe, sales activity remained moderate. Prices were down for some providers. The U.K. had a similar situation with slow sales and price adjustments.

In Asia, the market showed minor price adjustments.

In Latin America, the market was stable in terms of sales activity. Prices remained unchanged in Colombia and Brazil.

In the Middle East, negotiated FOB prices with Southern Hemisphere exporters were being lowered.

Grapes

In North America, the U.S. market was stable.

In Europe, red seedless grapes had rising prices due to low volume. White and black varieties with seeds saw adjustments. In the U.K., the offer was low and sales were quick.

In Asia, the market was still active.

In Latin America, the market was stable for Chilean fruit in Colombia and Brazil.

In North America, the U.S. had higher arrivals from Chile, which kept the market active.

In Europe, the first sales were reported for Chilean kiwifruit. The offer was still low and sales were quick. In the U.K., the season had not started for imports.

In Asia, the first Chilean kiwifruit arrived in China.

In Latin America, the Colombian market was stable.

In the Middle East, the Southern Hemisphere offering still had not started.

Pears

In North America, the U.S. market remained active and unchanged.

In Europe, the market was firm with a high price level. In the U.K., sales had good activity and prices went unchanged.

In Asia, the first South African Packham’s had arrived.

In Latin America, sales were agile for Packham’s in Colombia.
