Harvest situation in the Southern Hemisphere, week 14, 2013

Chile

Strikes at the port of San Antonio affected harvests and departures of Crimson Seedless and Red Globe grapes from the IV (Coquimbo) to VII (Maule) regions. At the time there were still 20 million boxes of grapes still to be harvested.

In terms of avocados, the industry set expectations that harvesting would begin in June in the IV (Coquimbo) region.

Peru

It was expected that avocado harvesting would begin at a similar time to last season during the second half of May in the key growing regions of Ica, Trujillo and Lima.
