CHERRY SEASONAL OVERVIEW 2017-18
During the 2017-18 season, exports of Chilean cherries almost doubled year-on-year. This caused an oversupply in key markets during the peak arrival period, along with a buildup in inventories, which led to price declines.
To maintain its competitiveness, Chile must therefore adopt new strategies, explore alternative markets, optimize resources and infrastructure, and eventually extend the its export season. These are all important areas that the industry must address to ensure the cherry industry is sustainable.
In the Seasonal Overview 2017-18, Decofrut thoroughly analyzes the evolution of Chilean cherry exports, breaking down the data to assess the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead of an industry undergoing rapid growth.
The Cherry Season Overview will include three harvest updates during the 2018-19 season.
