PHP, a subsidiary of the France's Compagnie Fruitiere, already has 3,000 hectares of land it operates in the coastal region of Moungo.
It now plans to create a new banana plantation covering some 800 acres further south in Dehane.
The announcement was reportedly made by PHP in its recent publication 'the acquisition of complete under-tree irrigation equipment'.
The publication was quoted as saying PHP was currently in the process of expanding its banana plantations in Dehane and the expansion would be done in several phases covering an area of over 800 acres.
It added that in the first phase it would be irrigating a little more than 52 acres, for which it would need under-tree equipment to prepare the surfaces for cultivation.
According to Investiraucameroun.com, PHP accounts for 45% of national production and exported 55,518 metric tons (MT) of bananas in the first half of 2014.
