Two ships to be exported with fruit have gone to the Chilean port of San Antonio instead of Valparaiso, in response to recent detections of Mediterranean fruit fly. San Antonio port

Website Agrimundo.cl reported the ship 'Lady Korcula' was still loading on March 27 for a total cargo of 5,152 pallets of fresh fruit, and 120 refrigerated 40ft containers.

The website also reported the ship 'Polarstream' from the U.S. was loading 7,100 pallets and 110 refrigerated containers.

Chile's Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) established a 7.2km (4.5mi) quarantine area around each of the three detection sites - which in this case includes the port sector - with the aim of eradication.
