Macfrut 2026: The global fruit and vegetable sector meets in Rimini
From 21 to 23 April 2026, the Rimini Expo Center will host the 43rd edition of Macfrut, the international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable supply chain, bringing together operators, buyers, and stakeholders from around the world.
An increasingly strategic event that combines business, innovation, and content, under the claim “Make it Juicy.”
The message encapsulates the direction of the trade fair: making Macfrut even more dynamic and business-oriented, turning global trends into concrete opportunities. The goal is to strengthen its role as an international platform operating year-round, where production, technology, and markets interact across the entire supply chain.

A strategic sector on the rise
The fruit and vegetable sector is one of the pillars of the Italian agri-food system, with a value of around $22.4 billion (27 percent of national agricultural production), rising to over $70 billion when the entire supply chain is considered. At an international level, the sector continues to grow: in 2025, Italian exports reached over $8 billion (up 11.3 percent).
Consumption patterns are also evolving, with increasing demand for high-nutrition products and for emerging segments such as berries, mangoes, and avocados.
An increasingly international trade fair
Internationalization is one of the defining features of the trade fair, and in 2026, it takes a further step forward through structured year-round activities, including trade missions, institutional relations, and initiatives with the Italian Trade Agency.
This effort has led to the presence of over 800 top buyers from around the world (a 20 percent increase from previous years), with stronger participation from importers in Northern and Eastern Europe, Brazil, and China, including a large delegation from the country’s two main fruit and vegetable hubs (Guangzhou and Shanghai).
A special focus will be placed on the Caribbean, the featured area of this edition, with the Dominican Republic taking a leading role, while Africa also remains central, with over 20 countries represented. Macfrut thus confirms its position as a meeting point between emerging production areas and established markets.
Mango and avocado take center stage
Among the key players of the 2026 edition are mango and avocado, symbols of a rapidly expanding global market. These products will be at the heart of the “Mango and Avocado Explosion” event, which brings together the entire supply chain over three thematic days: one dedicated to mango, one to avocado, and one focused on opportunities for Southern Europe and Italy.
The program includes market analysis, B2B meetings, networking opportunities, tastings, and an international cooking contest.

Innovation, research, and knowledge
Macfrut further strengthens its role as a supply chain trade fair with a layout organized into three macro areas: Pre-Harvest, Post-Harvest, and Healthy Food, following the product journey from production to consumption.
Within this renewed framework are the Themed Exhibitions: Plant Nursery, dedicated to nursery innovation; Biosolutions and Digital Technologies, focusing on sustainability and digital solutions; Acqua Campus, centered on water efficiency; and the Berry Area, dedicated to the berry supply chain.

The Healthy Food macro area addresses the growing demand for healthy, organic, and high-nutrient-value products.
The offering is completed with test fields and a Start-up Area featuring 25 innovative companies and around 100 events, including conferences and workshops. Innovation, including digital technologies and artificial intelligence, is presented as a concrete tool to improve competitiveness and efficiency.
Macfrut confirms itself as a global hub where relationships are built, trends are identified, and opportunities are developed across the entire fruit and vegetable supply chain.
Macfrut will take place on April 21 to 23, 2026, at Rimini Expo Center, Italy
