Buena Vista Packing partnership to boost Homegrown Organic Farms citrus volume by 20 percent

Representing California and Oregon family farms for over 25 years, Homegrown Organic Farms is taking the next step in growing its organic citrus program.

The company partnered with Buena Vista Packing in Kern County, California, allowing Homegrown to expand capacity through an additional loading location in the southern San Joaquin Valley. This, the company says, will enable it to offer customers increased convenience.

ā€œThis collaboration with Buena Vista Packing is about more than just growth—it’s about creating alignment with like-minded partners who share our values and vision for organics,ā€ said Scott Mabs, CEO of Homegrown Organic Farms.

Through this new partnership, Homegrown Organic Farms will handle organic citrus from Buena Vista’s farms, representing a 20 percent increase in program volume.

The added supply also introduces an additional varietal into the program, the Daisy mandarin, further strengthening Homegrown’s ability to provide consistent, reliable organic citrus offerings for retail and foodservice partners.

ā€œThe additional fruit from Buena Vista enhances our program in exciting ways. It gives us another varietal to offer, stronger continuity of supply, and the ability to better serve our retail and foodservice partners with consistency and reliability,ā€ says Craig Morris, Citrus & Grape Category Director at Homegrown Organic Farms.

With this expansion, Homegrown will be better equipped to provide a robust organic citrus program while maintaining supply year-round. Customers will also benefit from improved logistics, with Kern County offering an additional and convenient loading option, alongside Homegrown’s facilities in Kingsburg and Riverside, California.

ā€œWe know this partnership will have a meaningful impact on our business, our growers, and our customers, and we’re excited about the opportunities it creates moving forward,ā€ Mabs added.
