Fyffes celebrates FPC's Ethical Sustainability Excellence 2025 award
Global tropical produce exporter Fyffes has been commended for its sustainability efforts at the Fresh Produce Consortium Fresh Awards gala in London.
The leading banana and pineapple producer was honored with the āEthical Sustainability Excellenceā 2025 award. The accolade highlights what the FPC termed āFyffes' respect for people, communities and planetā.
āThe organisation sets a shining example of how multi-national businesses can engage collective efforts to grow produce responsibly, and enrich peopleās lives for a fairer, resilient future,ā they added.
The award also recognizes Fyffes' significant efforts focused on water management, sustainable packaging, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The FPC also highlighted the company's broader ethical practices, such as dedicated human rights impact assessments, gender equality programs, and concentrated efforts to repurpose surplus food and reduce food waste.
āWe are proud to see the measures we have implemented towards environmental sustainability acknowledged," said John Hopkins, Managing Director of Fyffes UK, as he received the award.
The executive emphasized the importance of sustainability for Fyffes, as well as its relationship with farmers, local communities, customers, and consumers. He was adamant that the threat of climate change is not going away, and the company's aim has always been to be at the forefront of sustainability innovation and action to protect people and planet.
