Euro Company at Fruit Attraction: The pack formats that make nuts stand out in the fresh produce aisle

Bringing nuts ever closer to consumers' everyday habits, boosting their prominence in the fresh produce aisle through formats that combine visibility and convenience, as well as creating various opportunities for purchase. That is the model Euro Company presented at Fruit Attraction 2026, held in Madrid from 6 to 8 October.

With more than 45 years' experience in sourcing and processing nuts and dried fruit, the Italian company brought to the trade show a variety of retail pack concepts already developed for the Italian market. They are designed not merely as different packaging solutions, but as tools to help retailers manage and develop the category. The approach starts with the product range and extends to shelf positioning, multiplying touchpoints for the consumer.

Euro Company bets on nuts at the produce aisle

Underpinning this is a clear view of the fresh produce aisle as a space particularly well suited to nuts. Alongside fresh fruit and vegetables, products such as walnuts, almonds and dried fruit can strengthen their association with natural provenance, quality and minimal processing. It is a logic that Euro Company has consolidated in the Italian market and intends to share with international partners too.

Among the packaging concepts taking center stage in Madrid is the €0.99 price-point format, developed to make purchasing simple and accessible through a broad assortment and fast-moving SKUs. It offers an immediate entry point into the category, designed both to attract new consumers and to encourage repeat purchases.

Alongside it sits the Impulse Portion Pack, compact and versatile, which allows nuts to move beyond their dedicated shelf and find space in several parts of the retail outlet: from the fresh produce aisle to the checkouts, from promotional areas to shelf space dedicated to on-the-go purchases. The aim is to create new moments and opportunities for consumption and to increase category visibility along the shopper journey.

Transparent rPET snack pots play a central role, a format that puts the product front and center. Transparency lets shoppers see the nuts before purchase, making their appearance and quality immediately apparent and reinforcing visual continuity with the fresh produce aisle. Alongside this display function, the pots offer practical benefits for retail, from light weight to ease of display and handling.

The resealable doypack completes the range, designed to combine ease of use, light weight and shelf impact. The format is also used for premium dried fruit lines such as mango, pineapple and coconut and, thanks to its resealable closure, lends itself to consumption spread across several moments of the day.

Both solutions also focus on reducing the amount of material used. The rPET snack pot is made from 90 percent recycled plastic and is 100 percent recyclable. The complete packaging, including the protective film, also allows for a 50 percent reduction in plastic use compared to the previous pots in the range. The doypack, also 100 percent recyclable, requires less plastic than rigid packaging thanks to its lightweight structure.

"Our aim is not simply to offer products, but to work alongside retailers to develop the category, building assortments and solutions that create value for both the consumer and the store," says Michele Schiavina, Export Sales Director at Euro Company. "The experience gained in Italy now allows us to bring different models to international markets, adaptable to the characteristics of individual channels and local buying behavior."

For Euro Company, Fruit Attraction was an occasion to present not a single new product, but a genuine category development model: different formats, assortments and consumption opportunities, developed to champion nuts within the fresh produce aisle and to help retailers build a more visible, accessible and impactful category.
