Peru's Camposol not affected by workers' strike

Peruvian produce grower Camposol says it has ended an “illegal” strike by one of its company unions and will continue functioning normally as it enters its prime production season, the company said in a statement.

The strike was organized by Sitecasa, which comprises 6.7% of the company’s workforce. According to the statement, only 1% of its workforce participated in the strike, but that police were needed to repel protesters.

“Camposol reports that, despite the strike, the company has been working normally and without interruption. It is noteworthy that the above mentioned strike did not represent a financial impact for the company,” the statement said.

Camposol’s production is currently focused on white asparagus, table grapes and mangoes.
