Greenyard to obtain remaining Fresh Direct Belgium shares
Belgium-headquartered fresh produce multinational Greenyard (Euronext Brussels: GREEN) has reached an agreement to obtain the remaining 49% of its Fresh Direct operation in Belgium.
The company said that the deal had been struck with Fresh Direct Belgium's managing director and co-shareholder, Ben De Pelsmaeker.
"This announcement is another step in the common vision of Ben De Pelsmaeker and Greenyard to cooperate with clients over the long term, with a high degree of client support," Greenyard said.
"The Fresh Direct operation in Belgium has potential for future growth and has been integrated within Greenyard’s Fresh operations since their relocation end 2016.
"Ben De Pelsmaeker will continue to lead Greenyard Fresh Direct Belgium."
In March Greenyard announced it was opening two new distribution centers in Germany and closing two others in the country.
The company had also made an effort to acquire Dole Food Company, but in January announced that it had been unsuccessful.
