Mission Produce names new president for Central and South America

International grower and distributor Mission Produce announced through a press release that Juan Wiesner, the company's current President of Central and South America, will retire effective November 1.

The executive has led the Mission's growth across regions for 14 years, launched and scaled a vertically integrated operation in Peru, and expanded the Company’s international footprint into Guatemala.

Wiesner will be succeeded by Simón González, a 13-year Mission veteran who currently leads the company’s post-harvest and packing operations. Upon Wiesner’s retirement from the company, González will hold the position of Senior Vice President of International Farming.

In the press release, Mission said González's new expanded role will oversee agricultural production and packing operations for avocados, blueberries, and mangos in Peru and Guatemala.

Steve Barnard, Chief Executive Officer at Mission Produce, said the company "has been diligently preparing for this transition.” He also celebrated González's deep expertise: "[It] will continue to drive the Company’s international success and deliver on our strategic vision.”
