Fresh Del Monte recognized with 2025 Sustainability Award
Fresh produce exporter and distributor Fresh Del Monte announced it has received the 2025 Sustainability Award from the Business Intelligence Group, recognizing the company's leadership in sustainability. Through a press release, Fresh Del Monte explained the award was presented in the Sustainability Leadership category, which highlights efforts in promoting environmental and social impact while delivering measurable business results.
The Business Intelligence Group awards celebrate companies and initiatives that demonstrate how purpose-driven strategies can drive growth. A panel of business leaders evaluated performance, innovation, and quantifiable outcomes across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.
“Sustainability has moved from aspiration to expectation," said Russ Fordyce, Chief Recognition Officer of the Business Intelligence Group. "We’re proud to recognize Fresh Del Monte for showing what’s possible when profit and planet share the same roadmap.”
A recognition for years of prioritizing sustainability
According to the press release, the company was recognized for its sustainable practices and positive impacts throughout its supply chain. Fresh Del Monte's 2023 Sustainability Report reported the company had achieved its Scope 1 and 2 emission reduction targets seven years ahead of schedule.
Key initiatives cited include modernizing its ocean fleet with six fuel-efficient vessels, launching the carbon-neutral Del Monte Zero pineapple, and adopting advanced agriculture technology to better monitor plant nutrient requirements, which reduced nutrient runoff and emissions.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teams across the globe," said Hans Sauter, Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate R&D and Agriculture at Fresh Del Monte. "While we’re proud of what we’ve achieved, we know there is always more to be done—and we’ll continue advancing sustainable practices that protect our planet and benefit the communities we serve.”
