Mexican avocado supply rises in the US, while Europe doubles imports
The international avocado trade experienced marked divergence across key markets in late September and early October, Avoobook notes in its week 40 report. The breakdown shows volumes to the United States and Europe increased significantly, while shipments to China declined.
Mexican supplies to the US accounted for 86 percent of American imported avocados, with total shipments reaching 1,636. This represents a 38 percent increase in Mexicoās market share across the border.
Europe doubles year-on-year volume
The Old Continent closed week 40 with 1,305 avocado shipments, nearly double compared to the same period in 2024. Peru remained the dominant supplier, accounting for 55 percent of total imports. As its season progressed, Chilean avocados contributed with a little over 200 containers.
In contrast, the Chinese market received only 15 shipments, down 29 percent week-on-week.
