Cora Seeds showcases rocket and lettuce varieties at the Altamura Farm's Baby Leaves and Fresh-Cut open days

Vegetable seeds developer and distributor, Cora Seeds, unveiled its latest set of rocket and lettuce varieties, including new experimental lines, during the Baby Leaves and Fresh-Cut open days on Nov. 11–12 at Altamura Farm in Pontecagnano Faiano, in Italy’s Piana del Sele growing region.

During the events, the company showcased its lettuce rocket varieties, including Karina F1 and Kadjar F1, as well as established lettuce cultivars such as Maverick and Rossettina. It also showcased new experimental cultivars tolerant to Bremia and Fusarium, which are under trial.

In a press release, Cora Seeds says it chose Italy's Piana del Sele, located between the Apennine Mountains and the Gulf of Salerno, because the region has become one of Europe's most important hubs for the vegetable sector, thanks to its fertile soil.

"Our goal is to offer competitive, versatile, and reliable genetics while also fostering research and collaboration, building bridges between those who develop varieties and those who bring them to market," Maurizio Bacchi, CEO of Cora Seeds, said. "Investment in fresh-cut produce is a significant commitment for Cora Seeds, as we strive to meet market needs in five or six years. The Sele River coastal plain is the perfect area for the growth and development of the sector."

The event also featured participation from Vito Busillo, president of the Piana del Sele PGI Rocket Growers’ Consortium, and support from Agricola Italiana, a manufacturer of seed-sowing machinery.
