Fresh Del Monte completes acquisition of select Del Monte Foods assets

Fresh Del Monte Produce has completed the acquisition of select assets of California-based Del Monte Foods Corporation II Inc. and its affiliates for approximately $285 million. 

The transaction marks a historic milestone for both companies, bringing the brand under a single owner for the first time in nearly four decades. The purchase is part of a strategy to strengthen brand consistency and identity, expand household penetration and consumer reach, and enhance operational efficiency, flexibility, and cost structure. 

“Reuniting the Del Monte brand under one global leader is a truly significant moment for our company,” said Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Del Monte has been one of the most recognized names in food for more than 140 years, and while the brand has operated across separate platforms for the past four decades, its heritage has always been rooted in bringing quality food to consumers around the world.”

Del Monte’s purchase details

The transaction was approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey. The company will fund the purchase through a combination of cash on hand and availability under its revolving credit facility. 

The deal includes four facilities in the US, two in Mexico, and one operation in Venezuela, as well as material customer and supplier contracts, ensuring continuity of service, and associated inventory, operating assets, and employees. The company will also acquire key prepared and packaged foods businesses.

In a statement, the purchasing company explained that it’ll house its new assets under a dedicated unit to ensure stability and continuity, and it doesn’t expect immediate changes to products, packaging, or distribution. 

Additional details on integration progress and financial expectations will be shared during the Company’s first quarter 2026 earnings call.
