Premium green kiwifruit Dulcis closes its 2025/26 season exceeding industry expectations
Dulcis, the premium exclusively Italy-grown green kiwifruit, closed the 2025/26 season with 1,800 tons of its volume accounted for, despite inventory increasing three times compared to last season's output.
In a press release, proprietary grower and marketer Dulcis Kiwifruit Company stated that the industry worried about the high output, but the market’s response was positive.
Italy remained the main destination for the fruit, accounting for more than 50 percent of volumes, while the rest was distributed across international markets, where the brand says the brand continues to gain visibility.

Mirco Montefiori, president of Dulcis Kiwifruit Company, said that consumers’ positive response is evidence that there is space for a “premium green kiwifruit with distinctive characteristics.”
Dulcis stands out in the produce aisle
According to the company, one of the key factors behind the fruit’s positive performance has been product differentiation.
Dulcis derives from Actinidia chinensis (the same species as yellow kiwifruit) but has green flesh and a profile the company says combines sweetness, juiciness, and a balanced level of acidity.
This is complemented by the strict Dulcis Quality Index (DQI), allowing the firm to select only fruit that meets defined standards, ensuring consistency across markets and adding value to growers’ work.
All bets on Europe
Dulcis has strengthened its presence in European retail, where in some cases it has been the only green kiwifruit available or part of premium product lines. At the same time, the company is developing new packaging formats to improve shelf presentation and adapt to different markets.

At the international level, this season the firm consolidated its presence in countries such as Portugal, Spain, and Germany, as well as the United Kingdom and the Scandinavian region. Dulcis performed well in Nordic markets—particularly Finland and Norway—which accounted for more than 20 percent of exports, while Portugal contributed around 10 percent of international sales.
The company also launched commercial campaigns in Germany, looking to grow in the market in future seasons, and made its first shipments to the Middle East, specifically to Dubai, in partnership with Carrefour.
For the 2026/27 season, a further scale-up is expected, with volumes close to 5,000 tons, which the company says will support the brand’s presence in Europe.
