Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 35 - 2012 (Aug. 31)

Apples

In North America, the Southern Hemisphere season began to come to a close in the U.S. with the last Chilean Gala sales and price adjustments for the Fuji supply.

In Latin America, active sales were seen for R. Delicious in Brazil.

In Europe, strong sales were seen for New Zealand's Braeburn and Pink Lady apples in the U.K.

Avocados

In North America, price adjustments were recorded for Californian and Mexican avocados in the U.S.

In the U.K., punctual arrivals were recorded for Chilean fruit.

In Latin America, a downward price trend continued in the wholesale markets of Santiago.

Easy peelers

In North America, low inventory pace was seen for Peruvian Minneolas on the U.S. West Coast given the preference for local stonefruit.

In Europe, the Dutch market was put under pressure from Peruvian Minneolas but positive sales were seen for Southern Hemisphere Nadorcotts.

Kiwifruit

In North America, good quality lots meant there was sufficient movement for Chilean supply on both coasts of the U.S.

In Latin America, adequate sales of Chilean supply in Brazil were in contrast to market pressures and a wide price range in Colombia.

In Europe, low demand for imported kiwifruit put pressure on the Dutch market. Zespri Green sales remained stable in the U.K.

Lemons

In  North America, variable condition for Mexican fruit led to a pause in sales in the U.S.

In the U.K., minor price adjustments continued this week in order to keep a positive sales rate.

Oranges

In North America, better sales were seen for South African oranges than their Chilean counterparts, due to the difference in fruit condition.

In the Middle East, adequate sales were seen for South African Navel supply.

Pears

In Latin America, stable sales were reported for Chilean and Argentine Packham's pears in Brazil and Colombia.
