Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Relations and Culture has announced it has signed a citrus trade agreement with the Philippines that will come into effect at the start of 2013.

The “Working Plan for the Exportation of Fresh Argentine Citrus to the Philippines” was signed by representatives of both governments, and will mean Argentina can ship around 3,000 containers of mandarins to the South East Asian nation during the May-October season.

The deaal was signed following the work between the National Food Health and Safety Service of Argentina (SENASA) and Plant Quarantine Service Philippines (PQS).

The two governments are also working towards a Philippine market opening for the import of Argentine grapes, pears and apples.
