The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has launched a new website that informs the public about its work on bee health.

The website, called #Efsa4Bees, will focus on EFSA's risk assessment of multiple stressors on the insect (the MUST-B project), as well as information on pesticides, animal health and environmental risk, accoording to an EFSA release.

"EFSA is carrying out some ambitious work on bee health and we decided to bring it together in one place so that our partners and stakeholders can follow our progress - and perhaps give us a helping hand along the way," said MUST-B project coordinator Agnés Rortais.

"The blog is just the beginning of what we hope will become an interactive community that will give us access to information and knowledge from beyond our established circle of experts and partners," she said.

The website will be beneficial to scientists, researchers and those interested in preserving pollinator species.

The site launch follows the recent release of a two-year study carried out by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which found many pollinator species were on the path to extinction.

"Their decline is primarily due to changes in land use, intensive agricultural practices and pesticide use, alien invasive species, diseases and pests, and climate change," said IPBES Vice-Chair, Sir Robert Watson.
