ProHass projects record 773,000 metric tons for Peruvian avocado exports

ProHass projects record 773,000 metric tons for Peruvian avocado exports

The Association of Producers and Exporters of Peruvian Hass Avocado, ProHass, is estimating 773 thousand metric tons for the 2026 campaign.

This represents a seven percent growth compared to the previous season, when the Peruvian industry reached a record export volume of 723 thousand metric tons, the highest ever recorded by the sector.

The organization explained that this season has been marked by climatic conditions associated with the El Niño phenomenon, which have generated fruit drop and less availability of commercial calibers, mainly in the northern part of the country.

ProHass noted that this positive projection is only the latest in an upward trend that saw 38 percent year-over-year growth in 2025, consolidating the sector's recovery after a 2024 hard hit by adverse weather.

However, the industry is not resting on its laurels and has set the challenge for the road ahead.

"It's key to maintain this quality standard, reinforce controls for heavy metals and residues, and strictly comply with the technical standard of not harvesting or exporting fruit below 22 percent dry matter, as a minimum," read the press release sent by ProHass. "This is an indispensable condition to guarantee the safety, product quality, and reputation of Peruvian Hass avocado in international markets."

The organization said it will continue to monitor the campaign's evolution to provide timely and reliable information to all actors in the chain.
