Camposol launches new berry brand

Peruvian produce multinational Camposol has is launching a new brand called "The Berry That Cares", which it says focuses on its commitment to the environment, its workers and the customer.

It responds to consumers who want to know the story behind their food, and who want to engage with companies that support sustainability practices, the company said.

"This new brand corroborates Camposol’s commitment to excellence in quality, consistency, and service, but also spotlights its efforts in social and environmental responsibility that drive “The Berry That Cares, its new brand of berries that will be available to worldwide consumers in the main supermarkets of the United States, Canada, Europe, and China, starting October 2017," it said.

It added that in addition to great tasting blueberries, the brand partly highlighted the company's "just and committed" relationship with its workers, care for the environment, and "development of a community where once only a desert reigned."

"Camposol has been conducting social responsibility programs with its workers and their families to improve the quality of their lives," the company said.

"They provide, for example, ongoing training and run the Wawa Wasi daycare center that has serviced more than a thousand youngsters since its creation, all of which are children of field and plant workers.

"It is not surprising that in the company’s 20 years of growth, the adjoining communities have grown along with it. Camposol has fostered sustainable entrepreneurship, and projects in health and housing have emerged, such as the construction and operation of the Nuevo Chao medical center."

Camposol said it was also committed to the efficient use of water resources and the innovation of eco-efficiency and wastewater management projects. It forests desert areas and does annual fauna and flora census in its areas of operation.
