Through a partnership with northern Peruvian producer Limones Piuranos, U.K.-based fresh produce supplier Wealmoor Ltd has acquired one of Peru's top mango and frozen avocado shippers, Sunshine Export. 

In a release, the companies involved claimed the new independent ownership and structure would allow Sunshine to build on its reputation as a leading Peruvian mango exporter while adding long-term value for customers and the grower base.

"We are very excited about the future of Sunshine with Limones and Wealmoor and this new ownership structure provides Sunshine with a platform to accelerate our global aspirations," said Sunshine GM Joaquin Balarezo.

“We already have a great relationship with our worldwide customer base and it is our intention to increase our
ground roots association with primary agriculture, which offers huge potential for Sunshine.

“We are confident this new deal will give us the ability to build on our reputation of being a high quality
supplier and improve our innovation capability."

Limones Piuranos is a major local farming business with 1,200 hectares of limes and mangoes production, and its owners Miguel Fossa and Juan Francisco Helguero are upbeat about the opportunities the Sunshine acquisition with Wealmoor brings.

"This new deal provides us with a huge opportunity to strengthen our route to market," Fossa said in the release.

"It will also provide us the chance to work closely with Sunshine’s local farmers and to build on the good work that has been carried out by the team.

"We want to ensure we continue to sustainably enhance the offer that has been so successful in delivering, high quality customers to customers."

Wealmoor, a family-owned supplier of fresh exotic fruit and vegetables in the U.K., has worked with Sunshine for 23 years.

Limones Piuranos are a leading grower, processor and provider of limes with modern processing facilities with
leading edge technology, enabling production of lime oils, juices, dried peel and fresh fruit.

As part of the acquisition, the Wong family will retain some of their shareholding as an endorsement of the deal.
