Amazon's fresh produce delivery to hit 2,300 new U.S. cities
Amazon's same-day fresh produce delivery service is available in more than 1,000 cities across the U.S., and the company is gearing up for expansion. By the end of this year, the e-commerce giant plans to add more than 2,300 cities to the list of currently served markets, which now include Raleigh, NC; Milwaukee, WI; Tampa, FL; and Columbus, OH.
The company said this significant market expansion will come with a more diverse offering of products with same-day delivery, including items such as produce, dairy, meat, seafood, baked goods, and frozen foods from local and national vendors. For Prime members, same-day delivery is free for orders over $25 in most cities.
Amazon users love fresh produce
Amazon said customers use the platform to order produce items more than any other commodities. Strawberries are among the top five best-selling items, while bananas, Honeycrisp apples, limes, and avocados round out the top 10 most popular perishable grocery items in same-day delivery carts.
U.S. online grocery shopping has become increasingly popular. The 2025 U.S. Grocery Store Rankings report by market research and data analytics firm YouGov Platform reveals that fruits and vegetables rank first among online grocery shoppers' purchases, and Amazon is quickly gaining traction as a favorite app to order from.
Amazon first launched its same-day grocery delivery feature in select locations, including Arizona, Florida, and Kansas, offering only a few items such as bananas, milk, eggs, bread, and ice cream. Its success has led to the company's expansion strategy.
