Fresh Del Monte joins forces with Colombia's Managro to boost avocado and lime supply

Global fresh fruit and vegetables producer and distributor Fresh Del Monte is partnering with Colombia-based Managro Group in a joint venture to expand an avocado and lime packing house in the South American country. In a press release, the companies stated the initiative aims to boost year-round supply for North American and European markets.

A conglomerate with investments in the Latin American agricultural sector, Managro Group said the venture combines the company's expertise in limes and avocados with its global distribution network. This, they say, will allow this new partnership with Fresh Del Monte to meet demand with “consistency, quality, and scale.”

The joint investment in the facility will strengthen Fresh Del Monte’s supply chain and increase its presence in the avocado and lime categories, which the company said are growing strongly at a global scale. The document also praised Colombia for its favorable growing conditions and consistent sourcing potential.

Market research from Fact.MR projects the global lime market will experience a 2.5 percent compound annual growth rate, reaching $62 billion by 2034. The global avocado market is projected to expand from approximately $19 billion to $34 billion over the same period.

“This joint venture is a bold step in advancing our long-term ambition: to lead in the most dynamic, high-growth categories in fresh produce,” said Danny Dumas, Fresh Del Monte's Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Management for North America. “Through our partnership with Managro in Colombia, we’re enhancing our vertical integration, expanding our global footprint, and reinforcing our position as a trusted, year-round supplier of premium avocados and limes.”
