Oppy expands Calgary footprint by 50% to boost logistics and ripening services
Global fresh produce leader Oppy opened a new office and warehouse facility in south Calgary, increasing its footprint by 50 percent and strengthening its service capabilities across Alberta and the broader Prairies.
The move comes as the company responds to rising demand for value-added logistics services.
āOur growing core business, combined with the rise in third-party logistics, meant we needed more room,ā says VP of Supply Chain and Logistics Stewart Lapage.
The executive adds that the new space allows the company to offer enhanced services, such as packing, bagging, grading, and ripening, while improving how it moves and stores produce.
A facility designed for efficiency and growth
The purpose-built Calgary location features updated packing lines, bagging equipment, and specialized ripening and grading technologies.
The facility includes energy-efficient LED lighting, motion-controlled systems, EV chargers, and a layout designed to optimize produce flow. According to Oppy, the site also supports potential future automation investments.
āOppy is committed to evolving with our customersā needs and finding new ways to deliver excellence across the supply chain,ā says Chairman, CEO, and Managing Partner John Anderson. āThis space is a physical expression of our promise to grow in step with the Prairies and invest in long-term partnerships across the region.ā
The firm has already hired six new team members in Calgary and plans to add six more positions as its logistics and third-party services expand.
