Chilean avocado exports ramp up as China cuts imports back
Chilean avocado exports rose sharply in late November, even as the Chinese market contracted and Mexico continued to dominate imports to the United States, says intelligence firm Avobook in its latest report.
The Andean country saw a 33 percent week-on-week uptick in volume, a 29 percent increase in avocado exports compared to the same period last year. The rebound is mainly due to renewed shipments to Europe, after several weeks of decline.
The US remains stable at historically low prices

Mexico supplied 97 percent of all avocados reaching the US by the end of week 48, reads the report. Avobook notes stable volumes and price levels, with only slight week-to-week improvements, especially on size 60 fruit, which remains at $1.85 per 2.2 lbs.
However, prices still donāt show a clear trend, sitting at a historically low level of $1.59 per 2.2lbs. for 70 size avocados.
Europe sees tighter avocado exports and mixed pricing
European supply dipped slightly, with Chilean avocado exports holding roughly one-third of the market share.
Colombia and Israel followed, while Spainās shipments increased quickly. Prices in Rotterdam showed mixed signals, with declines in smaller sizes and notable rebounds in medium fruit.
Retailers continue to face challenges absorbing available supply, Avobook notes.
The Asian Giant winds down
China recorded a drop of more than 50 percent in week 48 arrivals compared to the previous week, receiving only Chilean fruit. Prices fell by roughly 13 percent.
Market operators say year-end performance will depend on Chileās shipment pace and whether Peru returns with āhigh standardsā.
The Chinese market shows a āmarked volatilityā, the report says, contrasting with steadier conditions in the US and Europe.
