Dole Food Company has announced that a case against it brought by a Colombian plaintiff has been dismissed with prejudice by the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The lawsuit, Emperatriz Marina Mendoza Gomez, et al. v. Dole Food Company, et.al, was claiming damages against the company for alleged payments to Colombian paramilitary organizations.

“We have been clear from the outset that none of the absurd allegations made in this lawsuit about Dole were true,” said Dole executive vice president C. Michael Carter.

“Judge Johnson’s ruling provides for final dismissal of this case, and we are gratified that justice has finally been served by ending this baseless litigation.”

Dole is the world’s largest producer and marketer of fresh fruit and vegetables, and is the leading producer of organic bananas.
