Report: U.S. fresh apple holdings down 12% on last year

The U.S. Apple Association says that fresh apple holdings as of April 1 were 12% lower year-on-year at 51.2 million bushels., with processed holdings 13% down at 20.9 million.

The total number of apples in storage on April 1 this year was 72.1 million bushels, 12 percent less than last April’s total of 82.1 million bushels and 4% below the five-year average for that date.
