Mission Produce expands operations to Miami
Multinational fruit producer and distributor Mission Produce is expanding its operations and distribution to Miami, Florida.
The move, the company stated in a press release, will enable Mission to directly service customers in the Sunshine State with its signature avocados and mangos, as well as provide ripening and bagging services. By operating in Miami, Mission plans to enhance quality, availability, and speed-to-shelf, creating added value for existing customers while expanding its reach in the region.
āOur expansion to Miami demonstrates our commitment to elite customer service and our strategic focus on capturing growth in high-potential markets,ā said John Pawlowski, President and Chief Operating Officer, Mission Produce.
Pawlowski also emphasized that the company's new location unlocks its ability to meet Florida's strong demand for high-quality ripe avocados and mangos. "We are excited to bring Missionās values and capabilities closer to our customers in the Southeast,ā he added.
A new strategic location in Florida
Miami also serves as a strategic import hub for products sourced from Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, and other countries in the region. By entering Florida directly, Mission can streamline logistics, reduce transit times, and move product seamlessly across its U.S. distribution network. With more than 18,000 retail outlets across the Southeast, setting up camp in Miami positions Mission to better serve this customer base.
Florida represents one of the strongest growth markets for both avocados and mangos, the company said. In the past 12 months, 76 percent of Florida shoppers purchased avocados and 46 percent purchased mangos, both figures well above the national average.
The state is also the fastest-growing in the US, with 8.2 percent population growth over the last four years. However, it's not just about numbersāone in four Florida residents identifies as Hispanic, a key demographic for Mission in both the avocado and mango categories. These dynamics create a significant opportunity for the country to drive category growth in this dynamic market.
