US avocado imports surge as China stays light
The United States avocado market welcomed the third week of 2026 with a sharp volume uptick. Imports jumped 60 percent week-on-week, driven almost entirely by Mexico, reaching 1,850 shipments. The increase outpaced last year’s by 15 percent, according to Avobook’s latest report.
Prices strengthened overall, led by size 84 fruit, which rose 17 percent from the previous week. Size 70 fruit also posted notable gains, while larger sizes from 32 to 40, and size 60 increased by about four percent.

Europe imports edge higher as Chile redirects volumes
European avocado imports also trended higher early in the year. The region received an estimated 652 shipments, up 14 percent from the prior week and 11 percent higher than the same period last year.

Spain led European supply with a 28 percent share of shipments, followed by Israel at 27 percent and Colombia at 23 percent. Chile supplied 14 percent of the total, while Morocco accounted for seven percent.
Prices varied by size and destination, reflecting differing market conditions across the region.
China, by contrast, continued to see relatively light avocado arrivals. The European market received 23 containers from Chile, a 35 percent increase from the previous week but still 18 percent below year-ago levels. Prices in China declined by about 5 percent week over week.

Chile increased its overall export activity in week 2, shipping nearly 159 containers, up 27 percent from the prior week. Europe absorbed about half of Chile’s volume, while the country maintained what the report described as an intermittent presence across other destination markets.
