The 2026 Peruvian Hass avocado season is projected to close with exports exceeding 765 thousand metric tons (MT), a six percent increase from the 723 thousand MT exported in 2025, ProHass reported to FreshFruitPortal.com.

The industry body explained that the sharp growth registered in 2025 (38 percent) will not be repeated this year due to agroclimatic factors and crop rotation, following an "ON" season in 2025.

ProHass reported that Europe will remain the main destination for Peruvian Hass avocado. Shipments to the continent are estimated at 488 thousand MT, equivalent to 64 percent of the total exported volume. However, Europe’s explosive 39 percent growth in 2025 is unlikely to be repeated, forcing exporters and importers to plan their commercial operations accordingly and ensure an orderly supply during the season.

For its part, the United States is expected to receive six percent more fruit, equivalent to about 107 thousand MT, while Asia is projected to reach nearly 82 thousand MT, an eight percent increase over the previous year. This consolidates Asia's growing relevance to the Peruvian Hass avocado industry, especially in markets such as China, Korea, and Japan.

Meanwhile, Chile and Argentina will jointly account for around 86 thousand MT, maintaining their complementary roles within the sector's export strategy.

The pillars of the Peruvian Hass avocado industry

One of the pillars sustaining Peruvian Hass avocados’ position is a strict adherence to its quality standards. In this regard, the fruit is harvested only when it reaches a minimum of 22 percent dry matter, a key technical parameter to guarantee correct ripening and quality upon arrival.

Additionally, the industry continues to strengthen its control protocols through ongoing analysis of heavy metals and agrochemical residues to ensure product safety and compliance with the most rigorous international requirements.

The second edition of the Global Avocado Summit will be held on November 11, 2026, at the Monticello Casino Events Center in Santiago, Chile. Organized by the Chilean Avocado Committee and Yentzen Group, the meeting seeks to bring together the main players in a growing industry.

The event has established itself as a key space for addressing commercial and sustainability issues in the industry, bringing together producers, exporters, buyers, certifiers, and innovators to analyze the sector’s challenges and opportunities.
