China's wax apples target premium supermarkets in Europe and the Middle East
Yirenyi (Hainan) Agriculture, a fruit company from China's Hainan province, has become the first in the region to obtain GLOBALG.A.P. certification for wax apples, also known as Java apples (Syzygium samarangense). The milestone will allow the firm to expand its exports to premium supermarkets in the Middle East and the European Union.
Local newspaper China Daily reported that the authorization was granted following an audit conducted by international certification agency Ecocert.

Wu Bin, General Manager at Yirenyi (Hainan) Agriculture, celebrated the achievement and explained that the accreditation opens up new business opportunities for the firm.
"Obtaining this certification gives us direct access to high-end supermarkets like Walmart and Costco in the Middle East and the European Union," he told the news outlet.
Unlocking markets for wax apples
Since the beginning of 2026, the company has sent seven shipments of wax apples to Dubai, where the fruit has quickly established itself in the mid- to high-end fresh fruit retail segment.

According to the company, factors such as the product's uniform appearance and sweet, juicy flavor have driven a growing repurchase rate, with a current retail price in local supermarkets at around $9 per pound.
After obtaining the certification, the company began talks to enter the Canadian and Russian markets and is pursuing new international accreditations for specialized categories.
