Peruvian strawberry exports to the US jump 35 percent in the first half of 2026
Greater US demand has boosted Peruvian strawberry sales this year, according to the country’s Exporters Association (ADEX). The category reached $21 million in value between January and June 2026, representing a 35 percent year-on-year increase.
The US bought $11 million worth of the Peruvian berries, a whopping 96 percent jump in imports compared to the same period in 2025, when the country bought $5.6 million. As a result, the US market share increased explosively in the first half of 2026 and now sits at 52.3 percent, according to ADEX.

“The main category was frozen fruit (whole and chopped) for an FOB value of $20.3 million,” said the association in a press release. “The country also sent smaller quantities of dehydrated and fresh fruit, as well as frozen pulp and purée.”

The Latin American country completed its export portfolio with shipments to Canada ($4.6 million), Japan ($ 2.4 million), and Guatemala ($1 million), among 25 other destinations.
In 2025, Peru exported over $60 million worth of strawberries, up 32 percent year-on-year and reflecting a compound annual growth rate of over 11 percent since 2021.

The global strawberry market is currently valued at $6.3 billion, with the US, Germany, and Canada as the biggest buyers, and Spain, Egypt, and Mexico as the main exporters.
